Taido is characterized by two main factors: use of footwork and acrobatic movements, change of the body axis for simultaneous attack and defense. You can see examples in all three categories of Taido practice and competition: Hokei, Jissen, and Tenkai.
Taido Competition Events
In Taido there are no weight classes or belt classes. Men competes against men and women competes aginst women in 2 individual events and 3 team events.
Every event has it’s own characteristics where the taidoka show his or hers prowess in performing the 5 different types of techniques in Taido.

Tenkai is where all the skills in taido comes together in a fight between a hero and 5 villains.
